My Story

In 1978, my journey at the University of Washington unfolded with a determination to become both an artist and writer. Life drawing classes, creative writing workshops, and pottery became my artistic playground. Clad in a peasant skirt, boots, and wild, free-flowing hair, I embraced the creative spirit that defined those years. Somewhere along the past 40-plus years, that free-spirited girl got lost. Now, I'm rediscovering her, and it's an exhilarating journey.

WHAT INSPIRES ME:

Color: My life is a vibrant palette. I've tried toning down my paintings, but they come alive with bright, rich, and eclectic colors—a reflection of the vivid hues in my life.

Texture: I revel in feeling the paint on my fingers, incorporating molding paste, eggshells, mica chips, sand, and more. Textures create shadows and highlights, adding depth to my paintings.

Words: Inspirational and humorous sayings fuel my creativity. I want my art to inspire, enrich, and move people, meant more for inspiration than merely artistic admiration.

Women: I draw inspiration from women who carve successful paths without compromising authenticity. The struggle to break free from societal expectations resonates, and I applaud those embracing their creative souls.

GETTING TO KNOW ME:

Things I Don't Like: Monopoly, my toes, oysters, horror movies, Scotch, Bourbon, cigarettes, snakes, the Dentist, spicy food, pushy salespeople, long lines, mushy apples, liver and onions, and public speaking.

Things I Like: Wine and coffee, inspirational stories, laughter, family, Scrabble, Pictionary, anything sparkly, color, the smell of fresh-cut grass, fresh flowers, milk chocolate, jazz, going barefoot, dangly earrings, hugs, the warmth of a fire on a cold night, candles, apples and cinnamon, love stories, fresh-baked bread with butter, clouds, doors, funny movies that make you laugh until you cry, crystal (see sparkly above), coffee mugs that fit firmly in your hand, snow angels, rain, rainbows, kindness, pumpkin ice cream, woolly-worms, and good people doing good things.

Life is a canvas, and I'm painting it with all the colors, textures, and words that inspire me

Inspiration surrounds me daily, and my mission is to uplift and inspire others through my art
